Protecting London

This collection of work is a study of how the landscape of London has reacted to an increasing terrorist threat.

Terrorism has existed for as long as authority, yet London has remained a largely open city. Traditionally the government has met within meters of public roads and pavements, transport hubs were purposefully easily accessible, and public buildings were open to all.

Following the terrorist attacks of July 7, 2005 the city has undergone redevelopment to protect itself. Some of these defenses are well designed to blend into the environment, while others are brutal in their design and implementation.

While shooting this story in 2017, three major terrorist incidents took place in London and Manchester. The heightened threat level made access increasingly difficult, so I expanded he story to include the police and surveillance measures.
