The Changing Industrial Landscape of South Wales

South Wales has a rich history of coal mining and steel production.

In today’s environment, high quality steel is being produced cheaper abroad and the use of coal is in sharp decline.

But these industries have shaped the landscape of South Wales, and traces of these industries can be found everywhere. The traditions are slowly coming to an end, but their legacy will remain.

Replacing these industries are renewable energies, hydro, wind and solar along with hi-tech manufacturing. Solar, and especially wind farms are again changing the landscape of the area, maybe not as permanently, but highly visibly.
